Established in 1986, Kingwood is a charming Boutique Hotel nestled in the centre of Miri’s most eclectic neighbourhood. Featuring 49 designer guest rooms, an all-day multi cuisine restaurant, quaint lobby café and hip rooftop bar this boutique hotel provides the perfect stay for those wishing to visit hotels in Malaysia.


In 2015, the hotel reopened after a year of extensive renovation as plans were made to refresh the property’s dated appearance to bring it into the 21st century. Parel was approached to elevate the brand’s digital image ahead of the launch. The Hotel authorities were looking to make the website an important sales tool as well as more appealing to the eye.


We developed a long scrolling single page website, with custom illustrations and icons to help Kingwood. We instigated Parallax Scrolling for the site which tells more vivid and interactive stories. The design of the website mirrors that of the hotel’s interiors and gives the visitor a feel of the hotel even before booking a room.

We had a mobile first user approach for the website since most of the client’s target audience visited the site from mobile devices. As a result, the company site was able to attract over 4000 unique visitor and the bookings have doubled in time. The site had literally skyrocketed in terms of back-links, it had a whooping 50 plus back-links from high authority sites and also achieved high ranking for more than 15 keywords in Google and Yahoo. Our website solution has already become an important tool for creating a successful future for the hotel.
