A Challenging Journey Of Transforming An Existing Mobile App

Nest8, a financial behemoth headquartered in the United States, with branches all over in Singapore, wanted to transform their existing budget tracking mobile app to an app platform for entrepreneurs and business coaches to share ideas, data and facts about the economy, finance and other related affairs. Their goal was to let the registered users of the application connect with other users sharing identical interests, supporting the inexperienced individuals find and connect with the most qualified finance specialists around the world.

WHAT IT TOOK
THE CHALLENGE

The app had to turn something mundane and monotonous such as budget tracking into something exciting for the users. While we had to work on getting something more beneficial to make users come back and do this every day until they formed a habit, we need to focus on securing all individual’s classified financial and personal information.

 
WHAT WE DID
OUR APPROACH

After initial discussions with the client and detailed analysis of the target audience, we realized that “gamification” was the right direction. From initial job scope to wireframes, custom icons, avatars and user journeys, we worked hand-in-hand with the client to create an app that was user-friendly and made budgeting and expense tracking fun and amusing with games and avatar creations. Users could gain points, unlock avatars and advance in levels based on their app usage. We also used data analytics with the goals of encouraging positive behaviour for its users. Now on iOS and Android, the final outcome was a product that was exactly how the client imagined it, if not better.
